This was another weekend of cooking. Saturday I made a turkey loaf (not exactly a challenge to cook a brick-o-turkey) and then I tried to turn my remaining yukon golds into mashed potatoes. That was a failure. I was out of milk, so I used some powdered milk. Now I know that powdered milk can go bad. I didn't feel like giving up, so today I went to Hy-Vee and acquired 2.5 lbs of red taters, milk, and some provolone for sandwiches. I also got fudge makings as per a recipe my mom gave me (and may originally from Rachel Ray or somebody).

1 - 12oz. bag semi sweet chocolate morsels
9 oz (3/4 of a 12oz .) bag of butter scotch morsels
1 - 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 - teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt slowly over low heat (may use microwave) mix and
put in a prepared 8 by 8 inch pan

I made the fudge this afternoon and it turned out great!
fudge again

Then, after many dishes were cleaned I did the mashed potatoes.
I like skins so I scrubbed the taters and cut them into eighths.
I then boiled them for half an hour, then drained and mashed them.
To finish it off I added 3 tablespoons of butter, and slowly mixed in 3/4 cup of milk.
And for fun I tossed in 2 spoonfuls of minced garlic and some salt and pepper.

I know I'm bragging, but its awesome.
